We are called to run the race before us, but sometimes I think it is okay to simply walk. Walking is all we can do on the ways we are weary and weighed down by life. The act of moving forward, however fast and however slow, can be enough to get us back to the point of running the path in front of us.
Other times we must jump and take giant leaps of faith in order to hold on to perseverance.
Today I am jumping again as I continue to figure out this writing journey. From the beginning, it feels like every step is a jump into an unknown world, a foreign land that is begging me to hurry.
The words want me to immerse myself among them so I may learn to write faster, better, and share it with the world. I have to jump into writing and try new things and new ways to express thoughts, stories. I have to be more open to sharing my passion to create with words and it all begins with a jump into new territory. Only then can I learn to run the race set before me.
I’m joining my first link-up today: Five Minute Friday. Everyone focuses on one word and writes for five minutes without editing. Check it out or follow the #FiveMinuteFriday posts on Twitter.
I was debating on writing about a jump of joy or a jump as a leap of faith. I decided for joy but glad you covered a leap of faith. Sometimes you just have to jump in with both feet. God is big enough to rescue us if need be!
Thanks, Jerri! Glad it worked out well. Jumping does involve joy and faith and you’re right – we just have to go for it!
A lovely thoughtful reflection, Laura. Exploring and expressing our creativity feels very much like a leap of faith. Though a steady walk or slow amble is perfectly fine, especially when weighed down or weary. The pace doesn’t really matter so much as being on the journey. And you are! Well done for this Five Minute Friday post. Blessings of grace and peace to you as you go forward in faith. 🙂 xx
Great to hear from you, Joy! Thank you for the encouragement! 🙂 You are right – it doesn’t have to be a fast journey, just one step at a time. May we have the faith and courage to keep writing!
Nice! Being open to trying new forms of expression is a great way to free your creativity. Isn’t it fun to do Five Minute Friday? I’ve only done two, but it’s been a good exercise for my brain. 🙂
Thanks, Nita! It was fun to try as I was “forced” to focus and watch the clock. I’m looking forward to joining again and practicing the act of writing quickly and posting without hesitation. 🙂
Thanks for sharing this. I’m right there with you. Asking God to teach me and give me the words to write. He’ll use you. He’s so faithful like that. 🙂
Amy- thanks for reading and amen to what you said! May we be faithful to Him with our writing. 🙂 I know I’m still learning as well.
Enjoyed your writing.
Thank you, Denise! Glad you stopped by!
I’m right there with you, just starting to really pursue my love of writing. It can be kind of scary, laying it all out there for the world to see! Great post, Laura!
Thanks, Susan! I’m glad we can start our pursuits together. 🙂 It is scary and exciting, all at the same time. And thank you for the encouragement!
